APW 2018

Monday, June 4, 2018

I had such a wonderful experience at Atlanta Poly Weekend (APW) this year! I hung out longer and talked with more people this year. I did a panel discussion and two presentations. The presentations were, "Become a Relationship Communication Rockstar," and "Co-dependence or Interdependence: The Essential Elements of Healthy Relationships."

I feel so very warmed and appreciated by the wonderful people who attended my presentations. Many stopped and talked with me after the presentations and gave feedback and praise. I want to thank each and every one of you for talking with me! You are what makes all the work and preparation worth it!

The panel discussion I was part of was called “Coexist Panel: A New Hope” with Kiera, Becky, Mercury, Antoinette and Choc Trei. This panel was hosted by the National Coalition for Sexual Freedom (NCSF) and the purpose was to discuss building bridges between the Swinger, Poly, Kink, and Leather communities. It was an interesting discussion and I found myself talking with a friend of mine in the leather community about teaching a class next year.

I also attended a panel discussion on Masculinity called, “You Let Her Do What? Examination of Polyamory and Masculinity” with Kevin Patterson, Christopher Smith, Billy Holder and Bex Caputo. I was was VERY interesting! This was a very well attended and well received panel discussion and I would love to see more like it next year. Kevin Patterson has a new book, "Love isn't Colorblind

I also met Kitty Chambliss, author of “Jealousy Survival Guide: How to Feel Safe, Happy, and Secure in an Open Relationship.” and host of the podcast “Loving Without Boundaries.” We had a wonderful conversation and I’m looking forward to reading her book and hopefully adding it to the list of books I recommend to my clients.

APW gets better every year. If you didn’t make it this year, I hope you will plan on attending next year! What are some things you’d like to see or experience at a future APW?
